LNG Bunkering  Supply Chain in the Eastern Mediterranean

Establishing a supply chain is fundamental for the distribution of LNG to port users for vessels and LNG/CNG for port heavy-duty vehicles and buses. Core TEN-T Ports of Piraeus, Limassol, and Heraklion will be refuelled while setting up a new intermodal sea-based system, integrated into the logistic chain.

The LNG Bunkering Vessel based in the Core TEN-T Port of Piraeus will be loaded with LNG mainly from the Revithoussa LNG Import Terminal, to supply the ports of Piraeus, Heraklion, and other EU ports of the Eastern Mediterranean Region with LNG. The LNG Bunkering Vessel will supply:

  • the LNG-fuelled vessels calling in the Core TEN-T Ports of Piraeus and Heraklion,

  • the mobile bunkering equipment located at the Core TEN-T Port of Heraklion.

The Supply of Mobile LNG and CNG Bunkering, and Refueling Infrastructure based in the CORE TEN-T Port of Heraklion. There will be LNG Tanker Trucks with bunkering equipment assisting in:

  • bunkering the LNG fuelled Vessels at the Heraklion port,

  • supplying the LCNG station based on the Heraklion port.

The LNG Bunkering Vessel registered at the Core TEN-T Port of Limassol will be transferring LNG from the planned FSRU facility in Limassol Port Terminal II-Vassiliko. The LNG Bunkering Vessel will supply:

  • the LNG fuelled Vessels calling at the Core TEN-T Port of Limassol-Terminal I, and Limassol –Terminal II (Vassiliko), the Comprehensive TEN-T Port of Larnaca, any other LNG-fuelled vessels outside the territorial waters of Cyprus through offshore bunkering, as well as other EU Ports in the Eastern Mediterranean,

  • the mobile bunkering equipment located at the Core TEN-T Port of Limassol.

The Supply of Mobile LCNG stations and LNG Tanker trucks located at the Core TEN-T Port of Limassol. The Mobile LCNG Stations located at the Core TEN-T Network of Cyprus will:

  • supply LNG/CNG to port and other heavy-duty vehicles and buses,

  • load LNG to the LNG Tanker Trucks for bunkering LNG-fuelled vessels.
